AWB’s Smiling Wings Days of 2024 had an amazing kickoff on Sunday, 2nd June, at Perranporth Flying Club in north Cornwall. With a fortunate break in the weather, the day was blessed with sunshine and light winds, creating perfect flying conditions.

The dedicated Perranporth pilots provided the deserving young individuals with a dreamlike experience, introducing them to the joys of aviation. A heartfelt thank you to everyone at the flying club who made this unforgettable day possible.

Perranporth Flying Club planned their Smiling Wings Day over two events. The second event, initially set for the evening of Tuesday, 4th June, was for the local branch of the Explorers (formerly Scouts). Unfortunately, weather conditions led to a postponement, but the backup evening on 11th June turned out perfect.

On 11th June, under a beautiful, sunny sky with a gentle breeze, the Explorers finally had their chance to soar. It was a magical evening flight over picturesque Cornwall, providing an incredible experience for the young adventurers.
